The Hunger Problem
Although we may not live in a third-world country, hunger still affects 1 out of 6 people in the United States. According to the Feeding America website, 49 million Americans live in food insecure households. For our focus project, we want to help a local Feeding America member make an impact.

How Can NEACURH Regionals 2014 at Syracuse University help solve hunger?
Solving Hunger can begin before arriving at the conference. All schools are encouraged to look into their local food banks and volunteer at soup kitchens with their delegation every week for spirit points. Team up with hunger-related organizations on your campus and start a food drive of your own! We want his conference to start campus-wide initiatives for the year. After all, hunger is a daily battle. We know that everyone can do much more than donating only during the holiday season.
We simply ask that all conference attendees bring either non=perishable food items or monetary donations that we can then give to the Food Bank of Central New York. Volunteers will standby during check-in to collect donations and immediately donate the goods that weekend. Food Bank of Central New York will also be present to help five helpful advice on how to get involved and fundraising ideas that you can then bring back to your campus and help hunger where you live.
The hunger problem will not be solved immediately after conference weekend. Hopefully your delegations, RHA, and NRHH members decide to make volunteering at soup kitchens a monthly activity or you decide to host food drives multiple times during the year.
